Currently, the onboarding process for new interns is confusing, we have to identify pain points in onboarding and create a new onboarding experience that will communicate internship requirements for each community, and teach new interns how to use 1Cademy.

Clarifying the Problem
I learned from my user research on pain points for 1Cademy users that the onboarding process for new interns was in serious need of a revamp. The research revealed that interns were still confused about what 1Cademy is and how it is used after they were onboarded. To be honest, before this research, there was not much of an onboarding process at all - which ultimately contributed to the confusion.​

After learning about the need for a new process, I started leading the documentation team which now is creating a completely new process for intern onboarding.

Creating Tutorial Videos
New interns did not know where to start when they were hired. These videos are meant to guide interns and allow them to learn about the purpose of 1Cademy, as well as how to use it properly. We have many videos that go over the simplest concepts as well as more advanced ones. I created many videos from introducing the UX Research team, to introducing the knowledge map, to explaining how to personalize your own view. Below are just a few examples of the videos I created. New Onboarding Process
These videos needed to be paired with a completely new onboarding process for new interns. As a temporary solution, the necessary tutorials were placed in an email in a list for interns to watch before their first meeting. Recently, I suggested using Qualtrics to create a more permanent process for interns. Qualtrics will be used to present tutorial videos in the correct order, and ask interns questions about the videos to make sure they are learning. The data this team gathers from Qualtrics will be helpful in seeing which videos are clear, and which ones need to be remade.

Next Steps
We are still curating the Qualtrics surveys to give to new interns as a new onboarding process, and the next steps will include finishing the necessary tutorials and testing the new process on interns. With feedback, the team will be able to make changes and re-implement the tutorial for next semester when we hire more interns. Below are previews of the current introduction survey.
